Oktoberfest 2023 Munich Germany

The festival, which lasts just over two weeks, is held annually in a meadow just outside munich city centre. In addition to eating, drinking and dancing, visitors can enjoy colorful parades, a variety oktoberfest 2023 of fairground rides and, for those who aren’t on the traditional Bavarian team, admire those who are. It all started when Crown Prince Ludwig married Princess Teresa on October 12, 1810.

With the most famous beer, this tent will of course be popular with foreigners. This isn’t the worst, but the kind of people who tend to celebrate here are the drunk and annoying Australians, Americans and Brits. HB is known as the reckless marquee, it is guaranteed that you will be pushed and your personal space will be violated. However, it’s a lovely shop and one of the few places with standing bar service, so I suggest stopping by on a Monday to Friday morning to see it before taking it out of there. Of course, weekdays are ideal to visit, but not every day of the week is the same. People who come to Oktoberfest tend to book long weekend trips, which makes the long weekend from Friday to Monday quite busy.

Stoke Travel welcomes travelers, students abroad, expats and beer lovers to our all-inclusive Oktoberfest camping accommodation. If you arrive at the site early on weekends, you’ll have a head start, but don’t worry, as there’s plenty of time to land at a table to get your first beer served. Oktoberfest welcomes thousands of local and foreign visitors every year, especially on weekends. During the week, the first two weeks are slightly less busy than in the weekends and the last week. But if you want to experience the festival at its liveliest, you should go on weekends.

Don’t forget to go earlier in the day, and if possible on a weekday, to increase your chances of spending time in the larger tents. But don’t worry, we had just as much fun in the food tents and outside as we did in the tents. Munich, Germany is the birthplace of Oktoberfest and an important part of Bavarian culture that began on October 12, 1810, when Crown Prince Ludwig married Princess Teresa. Citizens were invited to attend the festivities organized in the fields in front of the city, known as “Wies’n”, which means grass, so you can sometimes hear it as such in Germany. Since then, the 17-day festival has grown into an important event, with travelers from all over the world in recent decades.

Children are also allowed in beer tents, but children under the age of six must leave the tents before 20:00, even if they are with their parents. The shops tend to fill up at night and it wouldn’t be fun for the kids or the parents to be in the stores at that time anyway. Activities such as fairground attractions on the fairgrounds would be more suitable for children.

Munich is the ultimate mix of old and new, both in terms of architecture and attitude. You can stroll through beautiful neoclassical parts of the city, such as Ludwigstraße and Leopoldstraße, and then look at the colorful and modern Brandhorst Museum. One week you can enjoy a traditional beer festival, followed the next week by a street art exhibition. Even in the middle of something as classic and traditional as the English Garden you will find a designated bald spot!
